Guardian Home Program
All of our female dogs are our pets. We strongly feel that dog breeding is a passion and is not for profit... which is why we only have a small number of breeding females at this time. We currently plan to use stud service until we increase our numbers. However, when the time comes for us to invest in a male we do not feel it will be in our dogs' best interest to be kept in the same household, as separation would be necessary during breeding and whelping periods. It will difficult for us to continue to maintain the high level of time and care our dogs currently receive if they must be separated to different areas of the house and not able to be with their "pack." We are not the type of breeders who kennel 15 dogs outside! Our dogs are part of the family, which is why we plan to maintain very small numbers.
Due to this reasoning, and after lots of consideration, we have decided to offer a pick of the litter male goldendoodle puppy completely free of charge to an excellent "Guardian Home" every few years. In exchange for this puppy, I retain breeding rights to the dog. This co-ownership would last for a predetermined period of time, at which point the dog will be retired, neutered (at the expense of Marigold Mini Doodles) and full rights will be given to the guardian family.
During the co-ownership period, the Guardian Family would be in charge of all pet related expenses just as they would if the dog was not co-owned. This includes non-breeding related vet visits, vaccines, dog food, etc. Marigold Mini Doodles is in charge of all breeding related expenses including neutering. This means that your pet would receive the full round of genetic and OFA clearances.
Guardian Owners do NOT have breeding rights. A vet reference and home visit is required, and they must sign a binding contract as well as submit a refundable deposit prior to taking their puppy home. Don't let this scare you! This is all to insure the health and care of the puppy is not at risk. The Guardian Family must live within a one hour drive of Marigold Mini Doodles. We are very excited to work with future guardian homes. If interested in becoming a guardian home, please contact us for more information. We will only need one new Guardian Home every few years, so this is only available occasionally. We expect to need our first Guardian Home in 2017.
